Maximum density and minimum porosity are the inspiring principles of the new line of anti-mite mattress covers, duvet covers and pillow covers Softbiocare®. The anti-mite Softbiocare® covers are made with an innovative micro-spun fabric made up of thousands of fibers arranged next to each other in order to create an effective barrier resistant to mites and their allergens.
In fact, one square meter of fabric contains 10,000 km long fibers for a total surface area of 90 square meters and a weight of only 100 grams! The exclusive production process involves the use of Polyester and Polyamide fibers that are subsequently reduced to the state of microfilaments ten times finer than traditional microfibers and one hundred times thinner than a human hair! These microfibers, in addition to being stretched and intertwined, then undergo a special treatment that transforms them into an extremely dense and resistant fabric for a "Anti-mite Barrier" Effect guaranteed for life!
Air flows freely between the fibers, which is why the anti-allergic linings of the Softbiocare® line are breathable and able to offer excellent comfort. This material has been tested by the Hohenstein Research Institute in terms of breathability, passage of water vapor and in particular, its effectiveness in blocking mites and their allergens has been evaluated.
Due to its particular characteristics, Evolon® is the first fabric to have received the prestigious ECARF (European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation) quality mark, which certifies the effectiveness of Softbiocare® linings in preventing dust mite allergies.
Through washing, the fibers regenerate and thicken. And the denser the fabric weave, the more active the anti-allergic protection is. Unlike natural fibers, Softbiocare microfibers do not swell when wet, are more able to promote perspiration and dry quickly once washed.
The pleasant sensation of Softbiocare® increases with washing and this impression becomes even more decisive after use. To the touch and at first contact with the skin, Softbiocare® is practically indistinguishable from traditional bed linen!
Softbiocare® anti-mite mattress covers are machine washable at 90° C with a delicate detergent, do not require the use of bleach and should not be ironed!

The excellent material and careful workmanship make Softbiocare® products perfect bed linen, the necessary joints between a fiber and the accuracy of the stitching allows the isolation of each joint in order to prevent the passage of allergenic agents from that point. The openings of pillow covers and duvet covers are equipped with overlapping fabric strips that incorporate its content and prevent the passage of mites and allergens.
The use of Softbiocare® mattress covers, pillow covers and duvet covers favors a significant reduction in the potential of allergenic agents according to all known reference tables.
Since hotel beds are not always free of mites, Softbiocare® represents the ideal travel linen for people suffering from allergies.
Weighing just 100 grams per square meter, the Softbiocare® zippered mattress cover and duvet cover/blanket cover are extremely light (less than 1 kg for a mattress cover + duvet cover set) and are easily foldable.
Although Softbiocare® is effective against mites even when used with old mattresses, in the event of the onset of an allergic pathology we recommend changing the mattress and pillowcases. In this way, Softbiocare® is able to act effectively as a "barrier" and prevent mites and mold from finding fertile ground and damaging the bed system.
What is meant by “Medical Device”?
According to the definition contained in Legislative Decree No. 46 of 1997, which transposed EU Directive 93/42 into Italian law, a medical device is:

used alone or in combination, including computer software intended for proper functioning, and designated by the manufacturer to be used in humans for the purposes of:
diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment, or alleviation of a disease
diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, alleviation, or compensation for an injury or disability
study, replacement, or modification of anatomy or of a physiological process
control of conception
provided that it does not achieve its principal intended action in or on the human body by pharmacological or immunological means, nor by metabolic process, but whose function may be assisted by such means.
What guarantees are implied by the CE marking of medical devices?
This marking demonstrates compliance with the essential requirements of Legislative Decree 46/97 (implementation of EU Directive 93/42/EEC) for medical devices, and therefore serves as a product certification ensuring:
functional quality and quality of materials
control of the manufacturing process and testing phases
traceability of the device throughout its entire circulation path, from the factory to the final customer
The purchase of a Class 1 medical device allows eligible individuals to benefit from a tax deduction for healthcare expenses (Art. 15, paragraph 1, letter C of the Italian Income Tax Code – TUIR – and Resolution of the Italian Revenue Agency No. 253 of 29/09/2009).
Therefore, the expense incurred for the purchase of such products may be deducted as a healthcare expense for an amount equal to 19% (for the portion exceeding the deductible threshold of €129.11, applied to the total amount of all healthcare expenses incurred) in the income tax return relating to the tax period in which the purchase was made.
To take advantage of this benefit, the following documentation is required:
A prescription on the letterhead of the attending physician (and/or specialist) certifying the necessity of using the aforementioned products.
An invoice made out to the taxpayer to whom the expense refers, or a fiscal receipt containing the following data: nature, quality, and quantity of the goods purchased, and the tax code of the recipient.
This documentation must be kept together with the income tax return for at least 5 years.
It should be emphasized that the condition for deducting the expenses incurred must be linked to a pathology proven by the medical prescription, certifying the necessity that justified the expense.
It should also be noted that the purchased product must be included in List 2 of Ministerial Decree No. 332 of 27 August 1999, issued by the Ministry of Health.
